About Artsen zonder Grenzen
Artsen zonder Grenzen Nederland is part of an international, independent medical humanitarian organisation Médecins Sans Frontières. They provide medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare. Their teams are made up of tens of thousands of health professionals, logistic and administrative staff – bound together by their charter. Their actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of impartiality, independence and neutrality. They are a non-profit, self-governed, member-based organisation.
Following the founding of Médecins Sans Frontières in 1971, Artsen zonder Grenzen Nederland was founded in 1984 by a group of highly motivated people with a goal to make a difference in the lives of people in need. Today, they are a worldwide movement of nearly 65,000 aid workers in more than 70 countries. From their headquarters in Amsterdam, they coordinate aid projects in over 30 countries. Their work is made possible by donors from all over the world and they are supported by the National Postcode Lottery.
