Field Managers in Emergencies Learning and Development (FIELD)

FIELD is a free capacity building program, designed for mid-level field managers. The focus of the program is to construct the pool of local, national and international staff who can prepare for and take lead in operational programs during humanitarian efforts.

Field Managers in Emergencies Learning and Development (FIELD) is a self-directed online course. Therefore, all learning materials are easily accessible wherever, whenever, and however required. The program has over 39.000 enrolments and is completed by more than 7.200 humanitarian professionals. FIELD is available in Arabic and English.

8 learning pathways

FIELD is delivered through a series of online learning pathways, each consisting of multiple modules. The 8 learning pathways are as follows:

  • Cross-cutting subjects (Equality, Diversity, Inclusion; Safeguarding; Staff Care and Wellbeing)
  • Leading and Managing People in Emergencies
  • Logistics
  • Finance and Grant Management
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL)
  • Communications, Media and Advocacy
  • Project Management in Humanitarian Settings
  • Safety and Security

In 90 Days

A key feature of the FIELD program is In 90 Days, an innovative learning game created by Humanitarian Leadership Academy, World Vision and Preloaded. This narrative-driven game empowers mid-level managers by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to deliver high-quality, equitable aid in alignment with humanitarian standards. Learners are asked to make decisions commonly faced by mid-level managers in humanitarian contexts where they musts balance cost, quality and time.
