Funding shocks and the strategic impact on the humanitarian system
Second session
Funding shocks are affecting humanitarian action immediately and on the longer term. How do funding cuts impact the humanitarian system and in which ways should it respond? ‘Seismic shift’, humanitarian disaster’, or ‘opportunity for radical change’; perspectives on the current moment diverge. In this session arguments will be offered for major changes: going back to humanitarian basics, the end of humanitarian aid and other ideas will be presented, as opposed to doing ‘the same, but less’.
