The global humanitarian system has historically prioritised international humanitarian responders. However, local responders are extremely well placed to respond in emergencies. Therefore a common motto for localisation has become “as local as possible, as international as necessary”. This video outlines what such locally-led humanitarian action entails, how it looks in practice and what Tearfund's approach to it is.
